The Kazan State Medical University held another training course for obstetricians-gynecologists using simulations and virtual reality.
At the Accreditation and Simulation Center of Kazan State Medical University, training cycles for obstetrician-gynecologists have been completed. Three training cycles conducted in 2026 under additional professional programs provided an opportunity for 43 doctors from the Republic of Tatarstan and other regions, including the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, to master complex clinical cases in practice. Over 36 hours of training, doctors practiced various delivery scenarios using high-tech equipment. Among them are multifunctional simulators, training devices, and seventh-level realistic robotics, as well as a 3D augmented virtual reality module. This allowed specialists not only to see but also to practically repeat complex manipulations, which is especially important in emergency situations. Yuri Orlov, the head of the Accreditation and Simulation Center, emphasized that such courses are maximally practice-oriented and use up to 90% of the training time for practicing complex manipulations. They provide doctors with the opportunity to hone their skills in conditions that are as close to real as possible. This helps specialists feel more confident and effective in challenging situations. Yuri Orlov noted: "With the help of high-tech equipment and repeated processes, specialists practice and reinforce their skills in emergency situations. They are not afraid to act and know exactly what to do to ensure both mother and child are healthy." Victoria Sevryukova, who came for training from Yugra, noted that simulation courses are especially useful in conditions where complex cases are becoming more common. "Complex cases are not that frequent now, but we often have patients with large fetuses and gestational diabetes, which leads to complications such as shoulder dystocia. Therefore, the simulation course is a great advantage for us in providing assistance," she remarked. Rimma Nurmukhametova, an obstetrician-gynecologist with over twenty years of experience from the Nizhnekamsk Children's District Hospital with a perinatal center, shared her impressions of virtual reality: "This is not my first time at these simulation courses, but this practice with 3D glasses is something incredible. It resembles a real situation. Here we can repeat all the movements, which is very useful for understanding how to properly position our hands and assist the baby in being born." The advanced training courses at Kazan State Medical University at the Accreditation and Simulation Center provide doctors with a unique opportunity to master modern working methods and enhance their qualifications. The use of high-tech equipment and virtual reality allows specialists to be prepared for any challenges and provide a high level of medical care.
Training was conducted at the expense of the federal budget of the Ministry of Health of Russia. Head of the press service Oksana Aganina.
