Capital repairs 2026: is that good enough?

      Contractors for major repairs clearly loved the Soviet cartoon "That'll Do!", but they just didn't grasp its essence. The plot tells an instructive story about negligence and carelessness. The boastful Master Hare gladly agrees to help other forest residents with their chores, but he does it clumsily and awkwardly. When faced with critical remarks, the Hare would respond: "That'll do!". The housing inspection examined the houses where the major repairs had started. It seems the contractors agree with the cartoon character on everything.

      A meeting on major repairs was held at the Housing Inspection of Tatarstan. Representatives from the executive committees of Naberezhnye Chelny, Arsk, Yelabuga, Nurlat, and Chistopol districts of the republic participated via video conference. The main topic was the discussion of the program for the current year, as well as pressing issues concerning the safety of Tatarstan residents.

      In the automotive city, there are complaints about work in five apartment buildings. For example, in house No. 1 on Berdakh Boulevard, the sewer and hot water supply pipes are poorly secured. As soon as the water flows, there will be a failure.

      In house No. 59 on 40 Years of Victory Street, the heating pipes were installed not parallel, and the holes were not sealed. So neighbors can communicate, for example, discussing a movie.

      In Arsk, in house No. 1A on Builders Lane, the parapets were covered with metal, causing the metal to bend and create holes. The downspout here is merely an object. It is installed but will not be able to perform its function.

      The decision of the Arsk district executive committee regarding the repair of chimneys is unsafe: they believe it is sufficient to replace the caps. That is, only the upper part, but what about the chimney throughout the height of the house? The head of the Housing Inspection of Tatarstan, Alexander Tygin, noted that such a decision is unacceptable; it is necessary to conduct video diagnostics inside the shafts.

      The same situation exists in the Nurlat and Chistopol districts. The repair of ventilation ducts and chimneys is understood as merely replacing the caps.

      In Yelabuga, in house No. 5A on Matrosova Street, they are repairing the roof, but the work plan does not include a complete replacement of the rafters. The new covering will be laid over the old, partially rotting and moldy wooden structures. They have already forgotten about the heavy snowfalls of last winter and roof collapses in Kazan.

      This year, work on the repair of ventilation ducts and chimneys is planned for 142 houses in 19 districts of the republic. The installation of supply valves is also planned, but only in Kazan and only in 35 apartment buildings. The work is funded by municipal subsidies.
