Fraudsters swindled a pensioner from Tatarstan out of 1.2 million rubles.
In Nizhnekamsk, a pensioner became a victim of fraudsters. The man lost more than 1.2 million rubles, reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan. The pensioner received a call from a woman who introduced herself as an employee of the pension fund. The stranger claimed that the pensioner allegedly had two years of service missing and was now entitled to an increase of 2,000 rubles. The woman asked him to gather documents and come to the office.
Immediately after this, a man called the Nizhnekamsk resident, introducing himself as a lawyer. He told the pensioner that the woman he spoke with was a fraudster. The "lawyer" stated that the elderly man's savings were in danger and that to protect them, he needed to withdraw money from his accounts and "conduct a declaration through a trusted person."
Under the fraudster's dictation, the victim filled out a request for cash withdrawal at the bank. Bank employees warned the pensioner about possible fraudulent actions against him, but the man responded as instructed by his curator: the money was needed to be divided among his children. The next day, the man received 1,272,500 rubles at the cash desk, after which he packed the money in a bag and handed it over to a stranger in the park after the code word "Plus."
The criminals promised to return the funds in a few days. After waiting for the promised date and not receiving what was promised, the pensioner contacted the bank. There, he was explained that he had fallen for the fraudsters' trick.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident.
