      On May 14, 2026, the acceptance of applications for the XXX Republican Festival of Youth and Young Press "Altyn Kalam - Golden Pen" began. The project is being implemented with the participation of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Tatarstan Republican Organization of the All-Russian Public Organization "Russian Union of Youth," the Republican Agency for Press and Mass Communications "Tatmedia," the Union of Journalists of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as educational institutions of higher and vocational education in the republic. The Minister of Youth Affairs of RT, Azat Kadyrov, noted that modern youth perceives information differently and needs not only to consume but also to create content. "Today, young people receive information differently than, for example, ten years ago. The competition for attention is very high, and formal presence in the media space is not enough. Therefore, it is important for young people not only to consume content but also to learn to create it, analyze it, and work with meanings. "Altyn Kalam" is a vibrant media environment where teenagers and students try their hand at journalism, learn to work in teams, and understand how modern communications are structured. This year, the competition celebrates its 30th anniversary, and participants can expect a rich and practically useful program," he said. The festival has been held since 1995 and during this time has become one of the key platforms for the development of youth journalism in Tatarstan. It aims to develop media literacy, form professional skills, and support creative self-expression among youth. The head of the Republican Agency for Press and Mass Communications "Tatmedia," Aidar Salimgaraev, emphasized that the festival preserves traditions while simultaneously evolving in accordance with the modern demands of the media environment. "Altyn Kalam" is a festival with a name and history, many of whose winners are now working in the media industry. It is important that it grows and changes along with the demands of the time. Thus, an important continuation of this year was that the winners of our first Republican Patriotic Festival of School Media "Yalkyn" received the opportunity to reach the finals of "Altyn Kalam." This means we have further expanded the circle of young people interested in media," he noted.

      Students, pupils of additional education institutions, and college and university students aged 14 to 24 are invited to participate. Last year, more than 130 applications were received, with the most popular areas being print journalism in the Tatar language and student media from educational organizations.
