Two teenagers from Tatarstan were arrested in Samara in connection with the "terrorist act" on the railway.
In Samara, a court has detained two underage residents of Tatarstan. They are accused of setting fire to a transformer cabinet at a facility of the Kuibyshev Railway. This was reported on Thursday, May 14, by "Kommersant," citing the regional FSB department. According to the security forces, the teenagers committed the arson at the direction of a "curator," whom they allegedly met in the Telegram messenger. They were promised a reward of 20,000 rubles for completing the task. The Central Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy"). The maximum punishment under this article provides for up to 20 years of imprisonment. There is currently no independent confirmation of the security forces' version. The position of the detained teenagers and their legal representatives remains unknown. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, cases of sabotage have increased in Russia. Very young people are often detained for setting fire to relay cabinets and cellular towers: many of them are not even twenty years old. In most cases, the security forces report that the "saboteurs" received a "commission" for the arson from "curators from Ukraine." There is no evidence of the existence of such "curators" or information about their detention in the public domain. According to human rights defenders from the "First Department," from 2022 to June 2025, sentences were handed down in 2,590 cases under all so-called terrorist articles (there are six; among them, for example, justification of terrorism and assistance to terrorism). On average, in 2025, courts issued more than five sentences under terrorist articles every day, human rights defenders calculated. Subscribe to our channel on Telegram.
