      Over the past year, the population of wild animals in Tatarstan has increased. The spotted deer has increased the most — by 39.4 percent. The Siberian roe deer has become more common by 7.9 percent, the marmot by 6.5 percent, the noble deer by 6.3 percent, and the moose by 2.6 percent. Such data is provided in the report of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Bioresources.

      In the department, the growth is linked to the protection of habitats and the establishment of feeders. In 2025, committee staff and hunting users created or restored more than three thousand special structures. Among them are over 800 salt licks for roe deer, moose, and hares, more than 300 combined feeders, over 1,500 feeding sites for birds, and more than 600 artificial nests.

      Currently, there are more than 16,000 such facilities operating in the republic. They help animals survive the winter and find food more easily.
