How the horse races took place in Bavly

      The Sabantuy in Bavly traditionally continued with horse races at the local racetrack. Excitement, ancient history, and genuine popular love for horses made these competitions one of the most spectacular parts of the holiday. This year, 25 horses and 5 ponies participated in six races. The geography of the participants is impressive: Zainsk, Sarmanovo, Tukayevsky, Aznakayevo, Aksubaevsky districts, as well as guests from the Republic of Bashkortostan. But that's not all – riders from the Orenburg region, Abdullino, Ermekeevsky, Belebeyevsky, Buzdyaksky, and Sharansky districts, as well as from Yutazovo, also came to the races. Fedan Gaifullin came from the Buzdyaksky district. He participates in such competitions every year and admits that he tries to visit Sabantuy in different districts whenever possible. "I've been riding since I was 10, and now I'm 40. I love such competitions; I enjoy the excitement and speed, and the cash prizes are quite good. I always take prize places," he says. Riders admit that they prepare their pets for such a day almost all year round. At Sabantuy, each outing on the track is a demonstration of the highest mastery of the rider and the strength of the horse. This year, spectators saw not only the usual breeds but also rare guests: three trotters entered one race, and in addition, six thoroughbreds and a dozen local "workers" took to the track. The program was rich and included four main races. First, spectators were shown horse-drawn carts – a traditional cargo harnessing, where horses demonstrate not so much speed as endurance and strength. Next were the spectacular races of thoroughbreds and half-breeds. The third race was dedicated to the trotters, and the program concluded with local breeds. There was also a tractor competition. The horse-drawn carts opened the competitions. The participant's task was to harness a horse into the harness, attach the cart, and break to the start. Azamat Iskanderov participated with his partner Ilfar Nasibulin from the village of Nikolashkino and a black mare named Bagira. The second participants were Mikhail Makarov with his partner Vasily Myshkin from the P.Urustamak rural settlement with a stallion named Orlik. The third to try their luck were Ranis Zalyalov with his partner Ainur Khabibulin, with a horse named Yoldyz (Kandyz rural settlement).
