Scammers stole 26 million from a pensioner in Moscow by intimidating her with a search.
Scammers stole 26 million rubles from a pensioner in Moscow by threatening her with a search. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the capital's prosecutor's office. The woman received a message demanding that she call the number provided, as her personal data was under threat. When the pensioner called, a fake specialist from the federal treasury answered. "She said that it was necessary to create a new account to transfer all the money I have, and if I did not comply, an operational group with a lie detector would come and conduct a search, during which everything would be seized. The specialist also claimed that this was necessary to prevent scammers from stealing this money," the pensioner herself recounted. After that, she handed her savings to a courier and, following the curators' instructions, bought gold coins and bars, which she then also handed over to the scammers. Realizing that she had been deceived, the woman contacted law enforcement. Currently, all circumstances of the incident are being established.
