      In Kazan, on June 21 and 22, commemorative events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow will take place. This was announced at the business Monday meeting by Dmitry Khvostikov, the chairman of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs of the city. On June 21, the international event "Fiery Pictures of War" will be held in Victory Park. Residents of the city and activists from youth organizations will light more than 40,000 candles to create a portrait of Hero of the Soviet Union Pyotr Gavrilov — one of the leaders of the defense of the Brest Fortress. A native of Kazan province became a symbol of courage and resilience of Soviet soldiers, who were the first to take the enemy's blow in June 1941. On the same day, students from Kazan universities will present a musical and theatrical performance "Dzhalil" directed by Ruslan Fekhredinov. The play will tell about the life and feat of Hero of the Soviet Union, poet Musa Jalil, who continued to fight against the Nazis even in captivity and maintained his spirit. Commemorative events on June 22 will begin at 2:00 AM with the "Candle of Remembrance" action. Representatives of youth organizations and residents of Kazan will march from the Unknown Soldier monument in Gorky Park to Victory Park. Participants will carry lamps with candles, which will then be placed at the Eternal Flame in memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

      At 10:00 AM in Victory Park, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial "Eternal Flame" will take place. It will be attended by representatives of government bodies, veteran organizations, and residents of the city.
