Doctors at the Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary of Tatarstan performed biopsies of tumors with complex localization. This was reported by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, Almir Abashev, on his channel on MAX. Two patients underwent stereotactic lung biopsy for tumors measuring one centimeter. In one patient, the formation was located very close to the rib, and in the other – near the heart. In such cases, it is especially important to accurately guide the needle to the target, reducing the risk of damaging surrounding tissues and developing complications. As the minister noted, performing lung biopsies has its peculiarities: lung tissue contains air, and ultrasound examination does not allow visualization of small formations. Modern navigation technologies come to the rescue here, helping to accurately determine the location of the tumor and safely perform the intervention. The technique mastered at the oncology dispensary is performed on an angiographic complex using flat-panel computed tomography and specialized software that allows constructing a 3D projection of the needle's movement trajectory and accurately reaching the neoplasm even with its complex location.
