Fidan in Kazan proposed to Putin to continue negotiations on Ukraine in Turkey.
Turkey is ready to provide a platform for negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Russian President's assistant Yuri Ushakov on the sidelines of the Russia-ASEAN summit after yesterday's meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Kazan. "You know that several rounds of negotiations have already taken place. And yesterday, the readiness of the Turkish authorities to provide a platform for further contacts on the Ukrainian settlement was confirmed," he said in a comment to Channel One. During the negotiations, Fidan conveyed greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Russian leader and emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue on key international issues. In addition, the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, held a separate meeting with the Turkish Foreign Minister. The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as current topics on the regional and international agenda. It is worth noting that the first negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine in three years took place in Istanbul. During these talks, humanitarian issues and prisoner exchanges were discussed. Turkey traditionally serves as one of the main platforms for contacts between the parties to the conflict. Meanwhile, the previous meeting of the three delegations on Ukraine took place on February 17-18 in Geneva. In mid-March, Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that negotiations on the settlement were on pause "for objective reasons," referring to military actions by the U.S. in the Middle East. At the same time, Russia's special representative Kirill Dmitriev continues to work in this direction.
