In Tatarstan, traditional costumes of the peoples of the Volga region from the 19th to 20th centuries have been recreated.

      In the republic, a large-scale historical and ethnographic project "Traditional Costume of the Peoples of the Kazan Volga Region in the Second Half of the 19th – First Half of the 20th Century" has been completed, implemented with the support of the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The aim of the initiative is to showcase the richness and diversity of the national costume heritage of the region. During the work, unique clothing ensembles of urban and rural populations of various peoples were recreated: Russians, Tatars (including Kryashens and Mishars), Bashkirs, Mari, Mordvins, Udmurts, and Chuvash. Many elements — clothing, jewelry, and accessories — were handmade. Currently, the exhibition features more than 30 costume ensembles, ten of which are presented at the Center for Unique Crafts. An addition to the exhibition consists of two illustrated catalogs with descriptions in the native languages of the peoples of the Volga region. The publications have already attracted interest from ethnographers, cultural scientists, and artisans from across the region.
