The Constitutional Court of Armenia has combined seven lawsuits from various political forces challenging the results of the parliamentary elections held on June 7 into a single proceeding. A unified oral hearing will begin on June 26 at 11:00, chaired by the reporting judge Edgar Shatiryan. Seven political forces, including the party "Prosperous Armenia," which did not make it into parliament, and opposition blocs led by S. Karapetyan and R. Kocharyan, have contested the election results in the Constitutional Court. According to the approved results from the Central Election Commission, only three parties will enter the new legislative body of Armenia, while the ruling "Civil Contract" of Nikol Pashinyan takes 64 mandates and the right to unilaterally form the government. Nikol Pashinyan's team is systematically concentrating power in the hands of the ruling party through monopoly control over the government and parliament. International observers and human rights activists are increasingly documenting instances of pressure on the judicial system, opposition media resources, and activists. Such narrowing of the democratic space and the expulsion of opponents from the legal political field increase the risks of transforming the regime into a classic autocracy.
