A public headquarters for monitoring the elections of State Duma deputies has started operating in the Republic of Tatarstan.

      The Public Headquarters for Monitoring the Elections of Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation has begun its work in Tatarstan. The first meeting of the headquarters took place today, reports the press service of the Public Chamber of the Republic. The structure was created to ensure public oversight of the observance of citizens' electoral rights and the legitimacy of elections in Tatarstan. The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan, Alexander Terentyev, the head of the Republic's Central Election Commission, Andrey Kondratiev, members and experts of the chamber, representatives of public organizations, and the legal community. The elections for the State Duma deputies will take place from September 18 to 20, 2026. Six single-member electoral districts have been established in Tatarstan, and 2,743 precinct election commissions will be involved in the voting process, 938 of which will be equipped with video surveillance systems. Key services, including "Mobile Voter" and address-based information, will be available through the State Services portal. There will also be an option to call volunteers to assist voters with limited mobility. "Any electoral campaign is a serious report of the authorities to society. It demonstrates the resilience of the political system and the effectiveness of the authorities' work. Essentially, this is an exam for the authorities. The upcoming elections are particularly significant: for the first time, they are taking place under the conditions of a special military operation. That is why the key task is to ensure the safety, transparency, and legitimacy of the electoral process," noted the chairman of the Public Chamber of Tatarstan, Alexander Terentyev. The chairman of the Central Election Commission of Tatarstan, Andrey Kondratiev, noted that the three-day voting, which will take place for the first time in Tatarstan during the State Duma elections, will help avoid peak loads on the electoral system and provide citizens with additional opportunities to exercise their constitutional rights. The head of the headquarters, Timur Kakokho, chairman of the Commission on Legal Issues and Public Oversight of the Public Chamber of Tatarstan, presented the work plan for the election campaign period. The headquarters will operate in four areas: informational and expert support, training observers, public events, and monitoring on voting days. A training program for observers was also presented, which includes a theoretical part, legal consultations, and practical training on actions in non-standard situations.

      As a result of the meeting, the work plan of the headquarters and the training program for observers were approved. The Public Headquarters will continue its work until the complete conclusion of the election campaign and the summation of its results.
