Minimally invasive surgery without incisions: doctors of the DRKB saved an infant with esophageal atresia
In Kazan, doctors from the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital operated on a newborn with esophageal atresia — a dangerous condition in which segments of the esophagus are not connected. Without emergency intervention, the child would not have survived, reported the head of the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan, Almir Abashev, on his social media. The surgeons used thoracoscopic correction — a modern minimally invasive method that allows for the defect to be corrected with virtually no incisions. This is critically important for the fragile body. The operation was successful, and the baby has been discharged home. Photo: Almir Abashev's social media
