A 52-year-old man drowned in the Yelabuga district.

      He was swimming in a place not equipped for this purpose. In the village of Atiyaz in the Elabuga district, a 52-year-old man drowned while swimming in a local pond. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan. According to rescuers, the body of the deceased was found at a depth of five meters, 15 meters from the shore. Emergency Ministry employees retrieved him from the water. The agency clarified that the man was swimming in a place not equipped for this purpose, where there were no lifeguard posts or barriers. Seven rescuers and five units of equipment were involved in the search operations. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated. Rescuers once again urge residents of the republic to follow safety rules at water bodies: to swim only in permitted and equipped places, not to swim beyond the buoys, and not to consume alcohol while resting by the water.
