A resident of Bugulma was brought to trial due to an AI recommendation - he was found guilty of making a false report about a car theft.

      According to the press service of the Bugulma City Court, a 29-year-old man sold a "ZIL" car in 2021 under a sales contract. However, neither the new nor the previous owner re-registered the vehicle, resulting in the seller being charged vehicle tax for several years. In 2026, the man wanted to deregister the car but could not find the sales contract. To get rid of the tax payments, he sought advice from artificial intelligence. The "smart speaker" suggested that no tax is charged on a stolen vehicle. Following this recommendation, in March 2026, the Bugulma resident went to the police and reported that the car had been stolen. Later, the deception was uncovered, and a criminal case was initiated against the man. "[The defendant] was found guilty of committing a crime under part 1 of article 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and he was sentenced to a fine," the press service of the Bugulma City Court reported.
