The acceptance of applications for the IV Youth Scientific Congress of OIC countries in Kazan continues.
The application campaign for the IV Youth Scientific Congress of OIC countries is coming to a close: the acceptance of applications will last until July 15, 2026, inclusive. In the fall, Kazan will once again become an international platform for young scientists: from September 30 to October 4, the congress will gather researchers from dozens of countries at Kazan Federal University (Volga Federal University). The Youth Scientific Congress is an annual platform where young researchers from OIC member states and observer countries present their developments, exchange ideas, and build scientific connections. Over the years, the project has turned into a significant event in scientific diplomacy: in previous years, it attracted more than a thousand applications, and its delegates included young scientists from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Uzbekistan, and other countries. Creating opportunities for young people to realize themselves on the international stage aligns with the goals of the national project "Youth and Children." The practical benefits of participating in the congress are best illustrated by the stories of those who attended last year. From a presentation to an international internship. Researcher from Suleyman Demirel University, Sadik Ualikhan (Kazakhstan), presented at Congress-2025 on the application of artificial intelligence for lung segmentation in medical images and received the Best Paper Award. "After the presentation, there was an active discussion with experts from different countries," he recalls. But the main result was a fully funded research internship at COMSTECH, obtained through contacts made at the congress. Today, Sadik is completing his PhD program and calls the congress "one of the important steps" in his international career: "Sometimes, a single presentation at a conference can be the beginning of a significant professional journey." From an idea to a real product. Senior lecturer at Sunway University, head of the undergraduate architecture program Nur Faridatul Syafinaz (Malaysia) presented in the "Architecture, Design, Art" track with the PercaBata project – eco-friendly bricks made from textile waste as a more sustainable building material. Her work won first place and the Best Research Award. "A simple idea can have a significant impact when supported by research and innovation," she believes. Now Nur intends to attract funding to bring PercaBata to practical application in construction. A platform to return to. Graduate of the International Oil and Gas University named after Yagshygeldy, Ilya Luryev (Turkmenistan), has participated in the congress since its very first season and presented a device for removing liquid from wells in the "Geology and Oil and Gas Technologies" track. Second place in the oil and gas track in the very first year became a powerful motivation for him. "We have participated in every scientific congress since the very first one, and each time we meet strong, passionate people, many of whom become true friends and like-minded individuals," he says. The congress is organized by the Academy of Youth Diplomacy and Kazan Federal University with the support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Strategic Vision Group "Russia – Islamic World." "Every year, the congress proves that a single presentation can change a person's scientific trajectory – opening the way to an internship, publication, or joint project with a colleague from another country. We invite talented youth from OIC member states and observer countries to take advantage of this opportunity," noted the chairwoman of the Academy of Youth Diplomacy, Dilbar Sadikova.
In 2026, the congress will work in six areas: biomedicine and biotechnology; environmental sustainability, green technologies, and rational natural resource management; artificial intelligence and digital solutions in education; architecture, design, art; modern international relations and international law; geology, geophysics, development of oil and gas fields. The best research of the finalists will be published in a single collection of scientific reports. Young researchers, scientists, and representatives of the academic community from OIC member states and observer countries aged 18 to 35, proficient in English at the B2–C1+ level, can apply. Registration is open on the official congress website – app.kazanyouthsummit.ru. Applications are accepted until July 15, 2026, inclusive.
