The Ministry of Education refuted interest in "beige moms" and gummy worms.
The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation stated that it has not developed "documents containing recommendations on specific types of food products or clothing colors for children." The message was posted on the Telegram channel of the federal agency. Thus, the ministry reacted to publications in federal media, which, citing departmental documents sent to regions, claimed that officials saw a danger in children's interest in gummy worms, blood, and other similar images, as well as perceived a negative influence on child development in the behavior of women adhering to the trend of so-called "beige moms." "The initiatives attributed to the ministry are an incorrect interpretation or unreliable information," emphasized the agency's press service and reminded that its responsibilities include the development of state educational standards, educational programs, and methodological recommendations directly related to the organization of educational and upbringing activities. "As for the topics of healthy eating, hygiene standards, or recommendations on appearance, these issues fall under the jurisdiction of specialized agencies," the ministry added and urged journalists and bloggers to carefully verify information before publication and to seek official comments from their press service "to avoid the dissemination of false information."
