CIT RT is purchasing 114 servers in Tatarstan for 2 billion rubles.
The Center for Information Technologies (CIT) of Tatarstan, under the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Tatarstan, will purchase 114 Russian Yadro H225 G4 servers at a price of 16.7 million rubles each, according to a government procurement tender. The total purchase amount thus amounts to 1.9 billion rubles. Their exact purpose is not disclosed. The company explained that the servers are supplied under a contract with a commercial customer and are not related to government tasks. The CIT of Tatarstan has long operated as a commercial company in the external market, and among the services listed on the website are supply, installation, and maintenance of server and network equipment, virtualization, server infrastructure auditing, and design of data centers and computing complexes. According to the Ministry of Digital Development's report from last year, the CIT's plans for 2026 include replicating solutions for large companies in the republic's key industries, including the oil and gas sector and machine engineering, as well as expanding cooperation with enterprises in the special economic zone "Alabuga." Such a purchase fits well into any of these scenarios. Moreover, these machines are not very suitable for training artificial intelligence models due to their technical specifications, but they are quite suitable for cloud services and big data. At the same time, as sources from "BUSINESS Online" say, the Ministry of Digital Development of Tatarstan is actively working on the development of artificial intelligence in the republic, including infrastructure. Thus, five flagship Nvidia B200 graphics processors, designed for AI and machine learning, have already arrived in Tatarstan. The chip contains 208 billion transistors and provides significantly higher speed compared to its predecessor, the H100. Recall that at the beginning of the year, the Minister of Digital Development Ilya Nachvin announced a large-scale AI program for 5 years and 5 billion rubles, which aims to establish Tatarstan as one of the leading scientific and technological AI centers in the country. The equipment that was in the republic before this did not cover even a third of the tasks related to AI in public administration—neither for scaling existing services nor for training its own models—so by 2030, the project envisions a 30-fold increase in computing power.
