More than 43 thousand residents of Tatarstan will vote for the first time in the elections in 2026.
According to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Tatarstan, as of July 1, 2026, there are 2,923,997 registered voters in the republic. Of these, 33.5% are young people, and more than 43,000 residents of Tatarstan will participate in the voting for the first time in the elections for the deputies of the State Duma of the IX convocation this year. The Minister for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, Azat Kadyrov, noted that participation in elections is becoming the first serious civic experience for many young people. "When a person turns 18, many new opportunities open up before them, and more responsibility arises. The right to vote is one of those things. This year, more than 43,000 young Tatarstan residents will come to the polling stations for the first time. For them, this is an opportunity to feel their connection to the life of the republic and the country, to understand that their decisions really matter. We see that young people today are interested in public affairs, ready to participate in the life of their cities and districts, propose ideas, and take the initiative into their own hands," Kadyrov said, as reported by the press service of the ministry. The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Tatarstan, Andrey Kondratiev, emphasized the active participation of youth in electoral processes. "The future of our republic and the entire country depends on young people, their conscious and active position. Participation in elections gives them a direct mechanism to realize their vision of tomorrow. We expect that the upcoming voting will show high engagement from the new generation of responsible citizens," he noted. To assist voters on voting days, a volunteer corps is being formed in the republic. Volunteers will work in several areas. For instance, medical volunteers will provide assistance at polling stations located in medical institutions. Mobile groups are being created in the cities of Tatarstan to respond to requests from voters with limited mobility. Volunteers will also be involved in the work of the information and reference center and at information desks in universities across the republic. Students, activists from youth organizations, and representatives of public associations are joining the volunteer corps. Their task is to help voters navigate the voting process and ensure the comfortable operation of information platforms. The Executive Director of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Information Resource Center for Volunteering," Ayrat Mubarakshin, noted that the participation of volunteers in organizing the work of information platforms is highly valued by people. "The experience of volunteers at major public events in Tatarstan shows that residents value receiving qualified informational support. Last year, we prepared such teams in every municipality in the region, and this experience turned out to be positive. Volunteers who underwent special training successfully cope with the tasks of explaining the procedure and assisting citizens at the site of their important choice. It is an honor for us that the volunteer community remains a reliable link between people and significant public initiatives," he shared.
Volunteer training is already underway and includes training in specialized areas of work. It is expected that the corps will become one of the key elements supporting the electoral campaign in Tatarstan.
