       According to experts, the average age of Tatarstan residents has surpassed 40 years. According to statistics, women give birth to their first child after the age of 29, while the birth rate continues to decline.

       The Republic of Tatarstan is experiencing a stable and concerning trend of demographic aging, which is compounded by the ongoing decrease in birth rates, reports RBC. As stated at a meeting of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan by the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection Elmira Zaripova, the average age of residents in the region has now exceeded the mark of 40 years, reaching 38 years for men and 42 years for women. According to previously published data from Tatarstanstat, at the beginning of 2024, this figure was 40.5 years, having increased by exactly four years over the last nearly quarter-century. Meanwhile, the total fertility rate in the republic continues to decline, which, by the end of 2025, decreased to 1.434 births per woman. The reason for this, according to the head of the department, is the reduction in the number of women of reproductive age due to the demographic crisis of the 1990s, as well as a significant shift in the age of childbirth: now the first child mainly appears in families after the age of 29. Earlier, experts estimated that the population of the republic is about 4 million people, with 76.7 percent living in cities. About a week ago, it was reported that the Republic of Tatarstan ranked first in the Volga Federal District in the number of certified wills by the end of 2025, and experts noted a noticeable rejuvenation of the audience turning to this legal tool.
