      Today, on the 18th day of the month of Safar (August 1), the V All-Russian tournament in traditional archery "Tugan Batyr" took place in Elabuga. The venue for the competition, by tradition, was the Elabuga settlement – one of the most famous historical monuments of Tatarstan. On its territory is a unique architectural object from the 10th century – a preserved part of the ancient Bulgar mosque. The "Tugan Batyr" tournament is a unique sports and cultural project aimed at preserving and popularizing traditional archery, historical heritage, and national cultural traditions of the peoples of Russia. The competition was held for the first time in 2022 and has quickly become one of the most significant events in the field of traditional sports. The name of the tournament is not accidental: "Tugan batyr" is a character from the large-scale national cultural project of the same name, a new Tatar image of a hero-protector, symbolizing courage, strength of spirit, and accuracy. Following the traditions of their ancestors, the tournament annually brings together archers from different regions of Russia and abroad, providing them with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills, touch the rich historical and cultural heritage, and determine the strongest archers of the competition. The event was organized by the National Tourist Complex "Tugan avylym" (Kazan), the Muhtasib of Elabuga and the Elabuga district of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan, the Administration of Elabuga and the Elabuga municipal district, the Elabuga State Museum-Reserve, the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Mergen uksy" (Republic of Bashkortostan), the sports club "MAKSAT" (Elabuga), and the Federation of Archery of the Russian Federation. The tournament was opened with the reading of verses from the Holy Quran and a dua by Imam-Muhtasib of the Elabuga district and city, Halim Hazrat Shamsutdinov, and the winners of the district Quran reading competition. The first to address the tournament participants was the head of the city of Elabuga and the Elabuga district Rustam Nuriyev. He noted that the archery tournament has become a tradition on Elabuga land, thanks to Radik Abdrahmanov, Gulzada Rudenko, and Halim Hazrat Shamsutdinov. Ilfar Hazrat Khasanov welcomed the guests on behalf of Mufti Kamil Hazrat Samigullin and noted that "Archery is the Sunnah of our Prophet ﷺ. The Sunnah is considered one of the most important foundations of Islam after the Quran. It is the right path. If a person lives according to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, then in this world he will be safe, and in the afterlife, insha'Allah, he will find happiness. In the Quran, our Lord says: 'But Allah will not punish them while you are among them' (Surah Al-Anfal, 33rd verse). If we love the Sunnah of Muhammad ﷺ and follow it, then, insha'Allah, the blessing of the Prophet ﷺ will be with us. And today's wonderful event, which is already being held for the fifth time on Elabuga land, is yet another testimony to the revival of the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ." Then Ilfar Hazrat awarded the activists of the "Tugan Batyr" tournament with letters of gratitude from the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan. Radik Abdrahmanov, in turn, noted that this unique event on this holy land has been taking place for the fifth year. He expressed gratitude to the head of the district and city Rustam Nuriyev, the general director of the Elabuga State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve Gulzada Rudenko, Halim Hazrat Shamsutdinov, and the teams working for the development of the project. "We want this project to turn into an ethnofestival, where guests from all over the world will come," he concluded. After the official opening of the tournament, the hazrats, participants, guests, and residents of Elabuga read the noon collective prayer on the foundation of the ancient Bulgar mosque "Ak mächet" from the 10th century and made a dua for the defenders of the Fatherland and the well-being of the Motherland. The prayer was led by Halim Hazrat Shamsutdinov.

      Men and women over 16 years old participate in the tournament, as well as in separate competitions – children from 10 to 15 years old from the Republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, Astrakhan and Ulyanovsk regions, Turkey. According to the tournament conditions, the presence of a historical national costume and one's own traditional bow, arrows, and quiver is mandatory. In addition to the competitions themselves, activities for the whole family were organized at the tournament venues: craft fairs, master classes in archery and spear throwing, a children's play area, horseback riding, themed photo zones, and performances by ethno-artists. Special guests of the event included the honored artist of the Republic of Tatarstan Saida Mukhametzyanova and the folklore-ethnographic ensemble "SORNAY." Additionally, within the framework of the tournament, the III open republican tournament in koresh among boys born in 2010-2011, 2012 and younger, and a screening of the animated film "Tugan Batyr" took place.
