Ecologists in Tatarstan checked 3,200 vehicles as part of the "Clean Air" campaign.

      Specialists from the Ministry of Ecology, together with the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and the State Auto Inspection, are conducting a large-scale check of exhaust gases from vehicles in the cities and districts of the republic. Since June 1, the next stage of the preventive operation "Clean Air" has started in Tatarstan. The event is organized as part of the national project "Ecological Well-Being" and aims to reduce the harmful impact of transport on the atmosphere. Over two months, inspection teams have checked 3,260 vehicles. The statistics include 2,894 passenger cars, 176 trucks, and 190 buses. During the measurements of toxicity and smoke levels from exhaust gases, exceedances of permissible norms were recorded in 66 vehicles. Thus, the share of violators amounted to 2% of the total number checked. Environmentalists conduct explanatory conversations with the owners of vehicles that did not pass the inspection about the requirements of environmental legislation. Administrative protocols are also drawn up for violators. The raids cover both large cities—Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny—and the districts of the republic, including Nizhnekamsk, Almetyevsk, Chistopol, Yelabuga, Leninogorsk, and others. Vehicles with gasoline, diesel, and gas engines are being checked. The action will last until the end of September.

      For reference: in the current year 2025, the "Clean Air" operation is being conducted for the 44th time. Previously, ecologists have already checked 6,497 vehicles, of which 168 did not meet environmental standards.
