Oncologists in Tatarstan saved a woman's uterus using pain relief balloons.
Doctors at the Republican Oncology Dispensary in Kazan performed surgery on a woman, preserving her uterus. This was reported by the press service of the medical institution. The woman was admitted to the oncology dispensary from the Chuvash Republic. In her region, local doctors recommended removing the uterus; however, she wanted to preserve the organ. The oncologists used an innovative approach – during the operation, they utilized microspheres produced in Russia: small balls saturated with an analgesic drug. They block the blood vessels that nourish the fibroid, causing it to gradually shrink, while the analgesic contained in them helps significantly reduce pain after the surgery. "I had this surgery exactly a day ago. Now I can say that I feel no pain, just a slight pulling sensation. I am very satisfied and already planning to go home," shared the patient. Specialists plan to implement this approach in clinical practice for the embolization of tumors in patients with oncological diseases, according to the press service of the Sigal Oncology Dispensary.
