      In Tatarstan, from January to June 2026, tourists made 1.5 million trips. The republic ranked fifth among the regions of Russia in this indicator, according to data from Rosstat presented by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov. In total, 43.2 million tourist trips were made across Russia in the first six months of the year. This is an increase of 4.3% compared to the same period in 2025. The number of trips made by foreign citizens to Russia exceeded 2.5 million, increasing by 20.1%. Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the contribution of tourism and the hospitality industry to Russia's GDP has been growing in recent years. By the end of 2025, it exceeded 3%. According to him, these figures indicate the effectiveness of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality," which is being implemented at the direction of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The Deputy Prime Minister linked the increase in tourist flow to the development of infrastructure and the emergence of new routes in both traditionally popular tourist regions and areas that are just gaining popularity. The most tourist trips in the first half of the year were made in Moscow – 6.4 million. The Krasnodar Territory took second place with 4.2 million trips, and third place went to the Moscow region and St. Petersburg, each with 3.3 million trips. Tatarstan, with 1.5 million trips, ranked fifth. Following in the ranking were Sverdlovsk Oblast – 1.1 million, Tyumen Oblast – 980 thousand, Rostov Oblast – 864 thousand, and Stavropol Territory – 800 thousand trips. The number of inbound trips by foreign citizens to Russia exceeded 2.5 million. The most noticeable growth in tourist flow was recorded in Magadan Oblast, Zabaykalsky and Perm Territories, Amur Oblast, Buryatia, Mari El, Vladimir and Kurgan Oblasts, Chuvashia, and Khakassia. Maxim Reshetnikov noted that the tourist preferences of Russians are changing. According to him, more and more people are choosing resorts in the North Caucasus, Volga region, Golden Ring, Northwest, and Ural. The cancellation of visas with China, according to the minister, gave a significant boost to the development of tourism in the Far East, where the number of foreign guests has increased several times. After a decline last year, the tourist flow to Anapa is also recovering. In addition, Russians have started to travel more frequently within their own region. This is reflected in the growth of domestic tourism in the Moscow, Leningrad, and Sverdlovsk Oblasts.

      The minister linked these changes to the implementation of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality" and emphasized that the authorities will continue to develop tourist infrastructure and promote new routes.
