Kondratiev spoke about how accessibility to elections for all voters will be ensured in Tatarstan.
In Tatarstan, preparations continue for the September elections, with special attention being paid to the accessibility of voting for elderly people and citizens with disabilities. This was stated at a briefing by the chairman of the Central Election Commission of the republic, Andrei Kondratiev. According to him, there are more than one million pensioners living in Tatarstan, and about 10% of voters are people with disabilities. During the elections for the State Duma deputies, polling stations will be equipped with special booths with wide openings for wheelchair users. For voters with visual impairments, stencils with Braille will be prepared, and for people with hearing impairments, a Russian sign language interpreter will be available via the video communication system "Service-112." Volunteers will assist elderly and mobility-impaired citizens. The Commissioner for Human Rights in Tatarstan, Sariya Saburskaya, noted that creating a barrier-free environment at polling stations is a matter of respecting human rights and dignity. Kondratiev also reported that the "Mobile Voter" service, which allows voters to choose a convenient polling station regardless of their registration, has already been used by 247 residents of the republic since August 3. The elections for the State Duma deputies, the by-elections for the deputy of the State Council of Tatarstan, and additional elections for local government deputies will take place on September 18, 19, and 20. Polling stations will operate from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Photo: Telegram channel of the CEC RT
