Last summer, about 5,500 students went to the fishing season. The All-Russian student fishing season "Kamchatka - 2026" has concluded in Kamchatka, where the jury determined the best teams and named the distinguished participants. The title of the best press secretary of the project was awarded to Jamila Fattakhova, a representative from Tatarstan, who is part of the student fishing team "Palana" from KSTU-KHTI. This team has been working on the peninsula for the fourth consecutive summer season, reports the press service of the student teams of the Republic of Tatarstan. "The fish processing industry is one of the key sectors for the Far East, and it is important for us to prepare qualified personnel for it. In Tatarstan, this direction began to develop widely in 2020 when, due to the epidemiological situation, many traditional areas could not start working, and alternative jobs needed to be chosen. Over the years of interaction with enterprises in Kamchatka, more than 2,400 students have been employed. The 'Kamchatka' project has been in demand among students from different regions for many years - there has always been great interest, and this year there was also significant competition," emphasized Vasily Islaev, director of the Republican Center for Student Labor Teams and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Russian student teams. In the current season, students were to perform a wide range of tasks: from unloading raw materials to the final packaging of finished products. Their duties included cutting and cleaning fish, working in filleting sections, preparing salmon caviar, freezing, packaging, and packing goods. Some students were involved on ships, where they assisted fishermen during catches and engaged in the primary processing of the catch. On average, during one labor season, participants in the movement process more than 30,000 tons of seafood. The team "Palana," representing Tatarstan, consistently ranked among the top three in production results throughout the fishing season. Additionally, its members excelled in creative life: they became winners of the "My Small Homeland" contest and repeatedly took first places in the Spartakiad, various creative competitions, intellectual quizzes, and photo races. An important event in 2026 was the official inclusion of fishing teams into the structure of Russian student teams as the ninth area of activity. Last summer, about 5,500 students went to the fishing season. The coordination of student teams' work in Tatarstan is carried out by the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan as part of the national project "Youth and Children." National projects in Russia represent large-scale state initiatives covering key areas of public life. These programs serve as the main mechanism for achieving national goals approved by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and implementing the strategy for the socio-economic development of the country until 2030.
