Vucic stated that Serbia has not changed its position after Zelensky's visit.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated that the visit of the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, to Belgrade did not change the country's position and did not lead to its siding with Ukraine in the conflict with Russia. This is how the head of state responded to criticism from political opponents, as reported by RIA Novosti. The day before, Vučić received Zelensky at the government complex "Palata Srbija" in Belgrade. Later, the Serbian President announced that he did not discuss military cooperation with his Ukrainian counterpart against the backdrop of the ongoing armed conflict. According to Vučić, opponents did not pay attention to the content of his negotiations with Zelensky but used photos from the meeting on social media to claim an alleged change in Serbia's foreign policy course. The President emphasized that the country did not side with anyone and did not incur any losses due to Zelensky's visit. Vučić also reminded that Serbia did not join the sanctions against Russia. Furthermore, he noted that Ukraine did not recognize the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. The President of Serbia stressed that he does not intend to conduct policy in the interests of other states – the United Kingdom, Germany, the USA, or Russia. According to him, he represents only the interests of Serbia and urged opponents to take this into account. During Zelensky's visit, a protest took place in Belgrade. Supporters of the opposition party "We are the Power of the People" and their like-minded individuals gathered at the monument to Nicholas II Romanov in the city center. About 50 people participated in the action with Russian and Serbian flags, as well as portraits of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In an address to citizens on March 2, 2022, Vučić reported that the Serbian authorities, by decision of the National Security Council, supported four out of 13 points of the UN resolution condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine. These points did not involve the imposition of sanctions or the confiscation of Russian companies' property in Serbia.
At that time, Vučić noted that the crisis in Ukraine seriously affects Serbia, which found itself under strong geopolitical pressure.
