In Tatarstan, the school-festival "Donbass Express - 2026" is starting.

      From August 11 to 23, Almetyevsk becomes the center of a large-scale creative and educational intensive and musical event, uniting 89 talented musicians from all over Russia and neighboring countries, as well as renowned Russian and international performers. The "Donbass Express" is an educational and enlightening project of the Creative Workshop of Leonid Lundstrem, implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, as well as with the assistance of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Culture Department of Almetyevsk, aimed at the professional development of young musicians. This year's project participants come from more than 15 regions and territories—from Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk regions to Kaliningrad, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, and Sverdlovsk regions, including the Republic of Karelia, Crimea, Tatarstan, the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and Abkhazia. Special emphasis is placed on working with young musicians from border and frontline territories. As part of the project, the tour of the soloists of the Creative Workshop of Leonid Lundstrem has already successfully started: concerts have taken place in Kursk, Belgorod, and Moscow, and will continue in Almetyevsk, concluding on August 23 in Kazan with the concert "The Legacy of the Maestro: Celebrating the 110th Anniversary of Oleg Lundstrem" at the State Great Concert Hall named after Salikh Saydashev. The festival school program combines educational and cultural formats. Talented creative youth will experience an in-depth immersion in the educational music program. Participants will attend master classes, educational seminars on the history and theory of music, lectures on Russian literature and art, painting lessons, as well as film screenings with discussions. Among the invited speakers are artist Konstantin Sutyagin, Moscow Conservatory teacher Grigory Rymko, priest Felix Statevich, and teacher of the children's folklore ensemble "Veretyonce" Svetlana Novikova. The concert program will feature leading educators from world and Russian music institutions, as well as soloists from the Creative Workshop: Alexander Romanovsky, Pyotr Lundstrem, Evgeny Starodubtsev, Vladimir Nor, Maria Voskresenskaya, Robert Brem, Alexandra Lotova, and the Chamber Music Orchestra conducted by Leonid Lundstrem.

      The festival will open and conclude with solemn concerts, and the educational program will culminate in reporting performances by the participants.
