In Tatarstan, mothers will be prosecuted for purchasing motorcycles for underage children.
In Tatarstan, two women will stand trial for buying motorcycles for their underage sons, even though the teenagers did not have the right or the necessary skills to operate them. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia for Tatarstan. The first case occurred in the fall of 2024. A 38-year-old woman purchased a motorcycle for her 14-year-old son. The teenager did not have a driver's license or the skills to operate a vehicle, yet he began riding on public roads. On July 16, 2025, the young man violated traffic rules by failing to yield to a car and collided with it. As a result, the teenager sustained injuries. The second incident took place in Yelabuga. According to investigators, in the summer of 2025, a 40-year-old woman bought a moped for her 13-year-old son. The mother was aware that the teenager did not know how to operate a vehicle, and due to a serious illness, he was even advised against driving. In May 2026, the teenager rode the moped onto a one-way street in the opposite direction. Police officers who noticed the violator demanded that he stop. The young man ignored the request, but during the ride, he damaged the moped's wheel, and then he was detained. Investigators believe that both women involved their children in actions that posed a danger to their lives. Criminal cases have been sent to court.
