The archery center is 95% ready for opening.

      The construction of the Archery Center on the territory of the "Tasma" sports school in Kazan is almost complete. The facility is 95% ready: only the top layer of asphalt needs to be laid on the access roads, landscaping needs to be done, and equipment and furniture need to be arranged. The facility is planned to be handed over at the end of August so that the complex can welcome its first athletes in September.

      From six meters to a full-fledged arena

      "Thanks to the head of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov. We are currently checking the final touches before his visit, looking at what else needs to be completed. But it is already clear: this is a wonderful gift for everyone involved in archery and other sports," noted Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin.

      The first specialized center in Tatarstan will allow archers to train year-round. The two-story complex, with an area of over 6,200 square meters, will combine a training base and a competitive arena that meets the requirements for major tournaments. In the future, Kazan will be able to host the Russian championships and international competitions here.

      The main change for athletes is the spacious training area. Previously, the archers of the "Tasma" sports school trained in a room only six meters wide. In the new center, the main training area will be a large arena measuring 96 by 51 meters. It will allow training and competitions at different distances: athletes will be able to shoot from 18, 50, 70, and 90 meters.

      The arena will allow 64 archers to train simultaneously – that’s how many targets will be installed here. The center is designed for 100 people per shift and up to four shifts a day. For the archery department, this is an opportunity to expand its recruitment: currently, there are about 120 students in the school, and after the opening of the complex, their number is planned to increase to about 400.

      Eight new bows and a room for arrow speed assessment: what innovations will appear in the complex

      Another important feature of the new center is specialized equipment. There will be rooms for checking arrow flexibility, adjusting string tension, and measuring bow strength, which will allow for more precise selection of equipment for each athlete. High-speed cameras will be used to analyze technique, allowing for frame-by-frame examination of the arrow's flight and the archer's movements. Additionally, about eight new bows, primarily intended for sports masters, will be purchased for professional training groups.

      Two changing rooms will be located on the second floor of the administrative and utility block, and two more will be on the first floor. Each is designed for 25 people. There will also be two coaches' rooms and a gym with an area of over 70 square meters.

      Inside the arena, a multimedia screen will be installed, necessary for holding competitions. It will allow for displaying tournament information and using the space as a full-fledged competition venue.

      Special attention has been given to adaptive sports: currently, a group of five veterans of the SVO with disabilities is already training in the department – the athletes shoot with support and participate in competitions. For them, the new building will provide a barrier-free environment: an elevator, adapted changing rooms, and restrooms.

      The center's project was developed by the State Unitary Enterprise "Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt." Photos of students and graduates of the school – competition participants who have achieved high results – will be displayed on the walls and in a thematic gallery. Thus, the interior will tell not only about the sport itself but also about the history of the "Tasma" department and its athletes.

      One of the heroines of the decor will be Daria Oreshnikova – one of the best students of "Tasma," a master of sports of international class and European champion. She started archery at the age of 10 and has dedicated about 17 years to this sport. Throughout her career, Daria has become the champion of Russia (2019), European champion, winner and prize-winner of the Schoolchildren's Spartakiad and athletes, as well as a multiple winner of republican competitions.

      "This is very pleasant; you feel your contribution to the development of sports in the republic. It’s a pity that such a center didn’t exist when I was a student at the sports school," shared the athlete.

      For Daria Oreshnikova, this is a chance to see her story not only as a personal achievement but also as part of the history of her home school. Moreover, starting from September 1, the athlete plans to begin her coaching career and pass on her experience to the next generation.

      "I want to tell you: you are still young and youthful, but now you are already a young coach. But a titled one. You have won titles both in Russia and internationally, bringing fame to both Kazan and Tatarstan. It is thanks to people like you that the decision was made to build this archery center. So everything is in your hands – to nurture new champions," emphasized Ilsur Metshin.

      The complex will train not only archers

      The new center will be multifunctional: during the time when archers are not training, other departments of the sports school will be able to use its space.

      "It is planned that during the time free from archery, the football department will train there. We also plan to hold large competitions for judokas. There are stands for 250 people, and four tatami can be laid out simultaneously. That is, the space can be used as a competitive venue," explained the director of the sports school, Rezeda Shurygina.

      The inspection of the center's construction was also attended by the heads of the Kirov and Moscow districts, Vladimir Zhavoronkov, the chairman of the committee for physical culture and sports, Linar Garipov, and the chief architect of the State Unitary Enterprise "Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt," Elena Valeeva.

      The construction of new sports facilities aligns with the goals of the "Sports of Russia" program.
