      Weight of the backpack: the main indicator

       One of the most common mistakes parents make is buying a backpack that is too heavy. An empty backpack can already create a load on the undeveloped spine of a primary school student. According to the agency's recommendations, the weight of an empty backpack should not exceed: 700 grams   — for elementary school students; 1 kilogram   — for middle and high school. It is important to remember that with contents, the weight of the backpack should not exceed 10–15% of the child's weight.

      Orthopedic back — the key to proper posture

       For younger students, specialists recommend choosing backpacks with a shape-retaining (orthopedic) back. It is equipped with a rigid insert, which allows the backpack to fit snugly against the back and evenly distribute the load on the spine.       Straps: comfort and adjustment

       Wide and soft straps are not just a comfort element, but a necessity. They reduce pressure on the shoulders and allow for length adjustment so that the backpack sits right in the center of the back, without slipping or tilting.

      Road safety: reflective elements

       Children often return from school in the evening or in overcast weather. To ensure that the child is visible to drivers, the backpack must have reflective elements. According to Rospotrebnadzor's recommendations, they should be placed: on the front surface; on the sides; on the top flap.
