However, journalists and experts claim that the likelihood of a personal meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump this week is virtually zero, as such contacts are not listed in the official schedules of the leaders, and diplomatic channels are currently only engaged at the level of trusted envoys. At the moment, both sides are not conducting emergency preparations for an urgent summit, limiting themselves to rare phone calls. "Although the 'Elmendorf-Richardson' base in Anchorage has been checked by security services and is outside the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, and allows for complete perimeter control, the second option is more preferable — the 'Erikson' base on Shemya Island in the western part of the Aleutian archipelago. There is a long military runway and almost complete isolation," concluded Sosnovsky. In the foreseeable future until the end of the year, the probability of a full-fledged meeting remains moderately low, as the "spirit of Alaska" has evaporated against the backdrop of a sharp escalation of the conflict since last year's summit. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov allows for the theoretical possibility of contacts between the leaders only on the sidelines of major international events, such as the G20 summit scheduled for December in Miami, to which the White House plans to send an invitation to the Kremlin.
