In Tatarstan, another hectare of wild hemp has been destroyed.
As part of the annual operational-preventive campaign "Poppy - 2026," large-scale activities have been conducted in the territory of the Cheremshansky district to eliminate the growth of narcotic plants. Through the joint efforts of the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Cheremshansky district and representatives of the executive committee, another hectare of wild hemp has disappeared from the fields of the district. The work is being carried out in stages. During the first stage of the operation, 6 sites of hemp growth were destroyed in the district. From August 5 to 14, the second stage of the raids began — 8 sites have already been eliminated. In total, during the two stages of the fight against narcotic plants, 14 sites have been cleared. The main goal of the operation is to deal a significant blow to the illegal trafficking of plant narcotics. Law enforcement plans not only to identify and mechanically destroy dangerous crops (including poppy and hemp) but also to suppress attempts at cultivation, processing, and sale of raw materials, as well as to block transportation channels. During the second stage, police are conducting house-to-house visits, operational-search activities, and active explanatory work with the residents of the district. Special attention is paid to interaction with landowners and tenants. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan reminds: the law requires land users to independently destroy wild narcotic plants on their territory. Ignoring this requirement entails administrative responsibility under Article 10.5.1 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation. Furthermore, citizens should remember that actions in the field of drug trafficking are regulated by Articles 228, 228.1, and 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The severity of the punishment depends on the scale of the act — from large fines to imprisonment.
