Dragon boat races have started in Kazan as part of the "ROSTKI" forum.

      At Lake Nizhny Kaban in Kazan, near the new Kamal Theater, dragon boat races took place. The competition was part of the International Forum "GROWTH: Russia and China - mutually beneficial cooperation" with the participation of 18 teams. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Korobchenko emphasized that the event is part of the forum and serves to strengthen long-standing friendly and economic ties between Russia and China. He also noted that today, eighteen teams from industrial enterprises, ministries, banks, and trade organizations gathered for the race, with the total number of participants exceeding two hundred. According to him, this is just the beginning, as it is currently difficult to accommodate more athletes. Korobchenko added that their race, a kind of small Chinese sabantuy, is aimed at allowing participants to get acquainted with the culture of the ancient country, get closer to it, and touch its traditions. In conclusion, he wished the athletes good luck and reminded them of the need to follow safety rules on the water and avoid collisions. The Acting Consul General of China in Kazan, Cao Longquan, welcomed those present. He noted that dragon boat racing has a history of over two thousand years in China and symbolizes the spirit of unity and mutual assistance. The diplomat congratulated everyone on the successful holding of the fourth dragon boat festival on behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in Kazan and wished the teams to demonstrate friendship, sportsmanship, and achieve high results. For the guests of the event, an extensive cultural program was prepared on the shore, including traditional dragon dances, workshops on qigong and tai chi, Chinese calligraphy and fan painting, creative activities for children, an express Chinese language lesson, as well as performances by musicians and dance groups.
