Rosstat: 82.1% of Russians' income goes to paying for current goods and services.

Photo: IA SM-News August 21 – IA SM.News. According to data from Rosstat for the first quarter of 2026, the overwhelming majority of Russian budgets — 82.1% — goes to pay for current goods and services. Another 14.9% of personal funds are forced to be directed by citizens to mandatory payments, taxes, and various contributions. As a result, residents of the country are left with a historical minimum for large investments, such as purchasing real estate — only 2.8% of their income. This is reported by TASS.

Chronic lack of disposable income for savings deprives citizens of a financial safety cushion and critically increases their dependence on expensive consumer loans for any unforeseen expenses. On a macroeconomic scale, this trend results in a deficit of "long money," necessary for large-scale modernization of domestic industry and infrastructure. The social outcome is the conservation of property inequality, as vulnerable segments of the population lose the ability to improve their living conditions and invest in human capital. The portrait of a typical retail investor in Russia is an economically active man around 36 years old, living in a large urban center. Statistically, this market participant has a relatively small starting capital of up to 500,000 rubles and prefers to minimize risks. His key financial instruments are deposits, conservative ruble bonds, and mutual funds that help protect savings from inflationary pressure.

Earlier, IA SM-NEWS reported that imports of goods from the EU to Armenia increased by 28%, exceeding the modest export by 2.5 times, despite the opening of customs borders of the EU.
