       Against the backdrop of a fuel crisis, there is a sharp increase in interest among residents of Tatarstan in purchasing electric vehicles and hybrids: their sales have soared two to three times.

       As reported on Tuesday, August 11, to RBC Tatarstan by the holding "TransTechService," in June and July 2026, sales of electric vehicles and cars with hybrid engines in the region soared two to three times compared to any previous months of the current year. The main factor for such a sharp increase in buyer interest has been the ability to significantly reduce dependence on the cost and physical availability of traditional fuel at gas stations. According to the online service "Auto.ru," from early June to mid-July, the demand for new electrified cars in Tatarstan increased by one and a half times, which generally aligns with the nationwide trend. At the same time, the increase in demand noticeably outpaces the increase in supply, which has only risen by 20 percent. A surge in interest is also noted in the used car segment. Experts point out that hybrids are currently more practical for Russia due to the underdeveloped charging infrastructure. A few days ago, it was reported that the average retail price of one liter of automotive gasoline in the Republic of Tatarstan as of August 3 showed the first decrease of the entire summer, giving motorists a slight respite after months of rising prices. According to data published by Rosstat employees on Friday, August 7, the price of fuel in the region decreased by almost two percent, amounting to seventy-one and five-tenths rubles. In absolute terms, the decrease was 1.4 rubles.
