Archaeologists from KFU, Moscow specialists, and researchers from Naberezhnye Chelny made a significant discovery near the village of Tatarsky Sarsaz in the Mendeleevsky district. During the reconnaissance, an unknown settlement monument was discovered, dating back to the first centuries of our era. In the fortified settlement, a treasure of women's jewelry from the Pyanoborsk culture (2nd century BC - 3rd century AD) was found. And under the layer of stones lay a bronze breastplate and details of shoe decor with preserved leather laces. It is likely that this was a hidden costume set. Items of import are of particular interest. Previously, similar treasures found in Tatarstan also contained Roman bronze dishes. This proves the connections of the local population with the ancient world. The discovery expands the understanding of the western borders of the Pyanoborsk culture in the Kama region. Large-scale excavations are planned here for the next year. Scientists want to understand whether these items were hidden in times of danger or if it was part of a ritual. Oleg LUGOVOY
