Leading the Way in BRICS: Rector Asiya Timiryasova Takes Part in the Concluding Event of the Brazilian Segment of the "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" Initiative and the "Great BRICS Teachers" Program

      Our university has once again established itself as a key player in BRICS dialogue. During the ceremonial conclusion of the Brazilian phase of the International Socio-Cultural and Business Program "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" and the project "Great BRICS Teachers: The Cultural and Moral Code of Unification" in Moscow, KIU Rector Asiya Timiryasova showcased the achievements of our university as an active participant in BRICS initiatives. The rector's address occurred at the round table discussion titled "A Century of Russian Public Diplomacy: Lessons from the Past and Opportunities for the Future," which attracted a diverse array of participants keen on advancing humanitarian and diplomatic collaboration within BRICS. Notable attendees at the round table included: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Dmitry Polikanov, Head of Projects at the Presidential Grants Foundation Nina Omarova, President of the Regional Public Organization "BRICS. World of Traditions," Head of the "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" Program Lyudmila Sekacheva, and Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Foundation Viktoria Karslieva.

      Rector Asiya Timiryasova's presentation detailed the outcomes and strategic aspirations of our university’s academic collaboration within BRICS. Asiya Vitalyevna shared the success story of KIU as a BRICS platform, recalling that in December 2024, our university hosted the finale of the Russian stage of the "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" program. She referred to those events as "two unforgettable days filled with educational and business activities," proudly highlighting two significant milestones: it was in Kazan, host of the BRICS Summit, that the Anthem of the Youth of the BRICS Peoples, recorded at KIU, was first performed, and the first "BRICS. Commonwealth of Civilizations" auditorium in Russia was ceremoniously inaugurated within our university with the presence of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov.

      The primary focus of the rector's address was on the tangible results of cooperation. Asiya Timiryasova elaborated on the signing of an agreement between KIU and the public organization "BRICS. World of Traditions," which facilitated fruitful collaboration and the execution of numerous significant projects. Among these was the university’s active involvement in the Brazilian phase, during which KIU established three direct partnership agreements with leading Brazilian universities: the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the University of São Paulo, and the São Paulo College of Sociology and Politics. "This opens up new possibilities for international educational and scientific cooperation for us," the rector emphasized. "And it enables us to work even more vigorously towards achieving the goal set by President of Russia, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, of doubling the number of international students from friendly countries." Asiya Vitalyevna placed particular emphasis on the humanitarian and educational mission. The rector warmly introduced a collaborative inter-university project—the bilingual publication of the book "The Great Patriotic War of the Soviet People." "This is a very significant project for us," the rector remarked. "Because we all recognize that, unfortunately, there are attempts to distort history." She explained that the book was translated from Portuguese by students from MGIMO University, and its publication was executed by the Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov. A portion of the print run has already been given to Brazilian colleagues, while copies in Russian have been distributed to major libraries and universities in Russia, establishing this project as a genuine bridge of memory and truth between our nations.

      In her remarks, the Rector of KIU effectively illustrated how the principles of public diplomacy are translated into actionable educational, scientific, and cultural initiatives. Her address served as compelling evidence that Kazan Innovative University is a driving force for humanitarian cooperation within BRICS.
