1.1 billion in damages: investigation into the "Trumf-NK" case completed in Nizhnekamsk
The investigation into the activities of the housing cooperative "Triumph-NK" in Nizhnekamsk, whose management is accused of embezzling 1.1 billion rubles from the organization’s members, has been completed. Three people will be put on trial, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia reports: the chairman of the board of "Triumph-NK," his deputy and the cooperative’s chief accountant. All three are charged with fraud committed by an organized group, or on a particularly large scale, or resulting in the deprivation of a citizen’s right to residential premises (Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the investigation, between 2004 and 2020 the defendants stole funds from 1,985 citizens. They solicited money through the conclusion of contracts, as membership fees and under other pretexts.
The Investigative Committee reports that more than 2,000 people — victims, clients and former employees of the cooperative — were interviewed as part of the investigation. Several comprehensive examinations were carried out. The criminal case exceeds 300 volumes. Asset freezes have been imposed on the property and funds of "Triumph-NK," as well as on the real estate of the defendants, to secure civil claims. The case has been referred to court.
