      Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov participated in a strategic session in Moscow on improving housing affordability, the press service of the Rais of the republic reported. The event was chaired by the Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin.

      During the session, measures aimed at stimulating demand for housing were presented.

      Mikhail Mishustin noted that the Government continues systematic work to improve the quality and affordability of housing for citizens. He emphasized that recently a decline in demand in the real estate market has been observed, which required the introduction of additional solutions.

      One of the measures was the cancellation of additional fees that banks charged when arranging preferential mortgages. The President of Russia stressed the inadmissibility of such a practice, reminding that the state already subsidizes the issuance of these loans. As a result, the largest credit institutions ceased charging these fees.

      In addition, the limits of mortgage programs were increased, which should support developers and ensure the emergence of new properties on the market.

      Together with the Bank of Russia, an initiative has been developed to temporarily subsidize the interest rate on loans for project financing of new developments. The Prime Minister noted that this measure is especially important for small towns where construction volumes are limited, and support is needed to complete started projects and launch new ones.

      The implementation of this initiative is aimed at ensuring that citizens receive their apartments on time.

      The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of constant monitoring of the situation in the construction industry, which plays a key role in the economy by providing the population with housing and jobs. He added that the industry has been developing actively in recent years and has built up a margin of resilience that must be preserved to meet the objectives of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." Under this project, it is planned to bring into operation over 660 million sq. m of housing and resettle at least 6.2 million sq. m of emergency housing stock by 2030.

      Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov heads the State Council of Russia’s commission responsible for the implementation of this national project.

      In addition, Mishustin recalled that the President previously stressed the importance of increasing the volume of individual housing construction, providing land plots and ensuring their necessary infrastructure. According to the Prime Minister, a package of measures in this direction has already been implemented.

      During the strategic session, participants discussed steps to create favorable conditions for the development of the construction industry, increase housing affordability, expand mortgage programs with preferential rates, and other topical issues.
