Tatarstan has entered the top 10 regions of the Russian Federation with the most pensioners.

      Tatarstan is home to 1.09 million pensioners. By number of people of retirement age the republic ranked 8th among Russia’s federal subjects. These data follow from the statistics of the Social Fund of the Russian Federation. The largest numbers of pensioners in Russia live in Moscow (more than 3 million), the Moscow Region (just over 1.9 million) and Krasnodar Krai (1.58 million). Also in the top five subjects by this indicator were Saint Petersburg (1.44 million) and Sverdlovsk Oblast (1.25 million). In sixth place in this ranking were Rostov Oblast and the Republic of Bashkortostan (just over 1.1 million in each). In ninth place is Tyumen Oblast (1.03 million), and closing the top ten is Chelyabinsk Oblast (982.8 thousand). The fewest pension recipients are in the city of Baikonur (5.2 thousand), the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (13.7 thousand) and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (14.8 thousand).
