The anniversary container train arrived from the Far East on the Gorky Railway.

      The hundredth container train operating under the regular “FESCO Kazan Shuttle” service has arrived from the Far East at the terminal and logistics center of Tikhoretskaya station of the Gorky Railway. The project is being implemented by JSC Russian Railways in cooperation with the government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the FESCO transport group.

      The train delivered 126 containers with goods from countries of the Asia-Pacific region weighing almost 2,000 tonnes.

      The Vladivostok–Kazan route is an important link in the intermodal transportation scheme from APR countries to Russia involving maritime and rail transport. When this service was first launched on the Gorky mainline, trains ran once every two weeks. After gaining regular-service status, container shipments in this direction accelerated by more than two times. Thanks to a specially designed timetable, trains now complete the route in 10–11 days. Currently up to six such trains arrive in Kazan each month.

      Since spring 2024 the route has been looped. Thus, shipments of products from enterprises in the republic began to be sent from Tatarstan to Primorsky Krai — polyethylene, industrial coke, insulation materials, joinery and furniture products, wall panels, vegetable oil, and others.

      “At the moment we are trying to maintain the volume of work and also expand the geographic coverage of shipments. For example, in August of this year a container train departed from Tikhoretskaya station for Zabaykalsk station for the first time. New container train routes allow regional producers to open up new markets for domestic business, including access to exports. This direction will be in demand among companies that plan to optimize their logistics costs and improve customer service,” said Gorky Railway chief Sergey Dorofeevsky.

      Recall that under an agreement with FESCO signed at the TransRussia 2025 international exhibition in the spring of this year, the Gorky Railway in June 2025 dispatched a consolidated container train with products from enterprises of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast to Khabarovsk Krai on a new route. Thus, from Doskino station to Krasnaya Rechka station of the Far Eastern Railway were sent: paper, building materials and food products. The new service expands the market geography for domestic producers, including access to exports.

      The “Fesco Kazan Shuttle” was launched from Vladivostok to Kazan in September 2022 during the Eastern Economic Forum. During this period the trains have brought almost 200,000 tonnes of cargo to Tatarstan from APR countries — paints and varnishes, household and industrial chemicals, machine tools, auto parts, and consumer goods.
