More than 20 thousand participants are expected at the international forum Kazan Digital Week, which will be held in Kazan from September 17 to 19. This was announced at a press conference dedicated to the event by the Russian Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadaev.
He recalled that the forum will be held for the sixth time and that during this period the number of participants and companies taking part in the event has increased many times. “More than 20 thousand participants are expected, which is roughly twice as many as the first forum gathered, 200 companies,” Shadaev said.
The minister noted that a busy programme is expected: more than 100 events will be held within the forum. All leading Russian IT companies will be represented. It is also expected that 60 countries will take part in the forum. “We note growing interest in the event not only within the country but also abroad,” he added. “Traditionally, large regional sessions take place on the sidelines of the forum. This year all the heads of regional digital transformation will take part. We will discuss the digital transformation of general education, management of the sports sector, and a large block related to the ‘smart city.’”
The Minister of Digital Development of State Administration, Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ayrat Khairullin, in turn said that this year the forum will host 33% more participants compared to the previous year. “More than 60 participating countries — Qatar, India, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Pakistan, China, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Moldova, Malaysia, Nigeria, Palestine, Senegal, Turkey, CIS countries. The strong interest of our international partners is due to the fact that Russia and Tatarstan today can offer competitive solutions from domestic IT companies that will be relevant on world markets,” he said at the press conference.
Khairullin noted that the exhibition exposition for this year’s forum has already been formed. According to him, among the companies that will present their booths at the forum, about 32% are companies from Tatarstan, 60% are representatives of domestic companies and 8% international.
In addition, the minister said that many countries will be represented at the forum by official delegations. “We expect delegations with extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors from the State of Kuwait, the Republic of Nicaragua, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Angola. The Minister of Information and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia is expected, the First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the First Deputy Minister of Communications of Cuba, … there will be representatives of the mayors’ offices of cities from China, Turkey, Brazil, Ethiopia. We also expect the director of the trade mission of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other high-level guests,” Khairullin added.
The Kazan Digital Week forum was held for the first time in 2020, and in 2023 the event received federal status.
