      The Investigative Committee of Russia has put forward an initiative to amend legislation to strengthen liability for involving minors in dangerous activities. Most often, criminal charges have begun to be actively brought against those whose children became participants in traffic accidents while operating motor vehicles. Izvestia reports this, citing the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin. At present this is punishable by a fine of 50–80 thousand rubles or corrective labor for up to one year. According to available data, in the first half of the year alone there were 1,197 traffic accidents involving young drivers, in which 31 children died. Of the total number of incidents, 914 cases involved the operation of motorized vehicles, of which 288 accidents occurred with pit bikes, popular among teenagers and their parents. In addition, 43 cases involving ATVs were recorded.

      In Tatarstan, too, cases of serious traffic accidents involving children on pit bikes have increased.
