Olympic champion Alina Zagitova assessed the progress of construction of the Figure Skating Center in Kazan. Today the athlete, together with Tatarstan’s Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov, visited the site on Portovaya Street.
According to the Tatarstan Ministry of Sports, the first floor of the administrative building has already been built on the site and the rink’s foundation has been laid. During the tour Zagitova took part in choosing the material and texture of the façade elements.
“We are getting a very large, beautiful, multifunctional facility. I want to once again express my gratitude to the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov for believing in and supporting the idea,” the Olympic champion said. She added that construction is progressing rapidly.
Tatarstan’s Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov noted that the complex is planned to open in summer 2026 in time for Republic Day.
