In Kazan, a man was detained while trying to throw away a bag of cannabis as the police arrived.

      During a patrol in Kazan’s Vakhitovsky district, police officers noticed a young man who, upon seeing them, threw away a bag containing an unknown substance.

      An examination showed the bag contained cannabis — about 200 grams. The 30-year-old man admitted he had been keeping the drug for personal use.

      A criminal case has been opened against him. According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kazan, the man faces up to 10 years in prison.

      The agency reminded that from September 9 to 18 the third stage of the operation "Mak-2025" is taking place, aimed at identifying, preventing and suppressing crimes related to the illegal distribution of plant-based narcotics.
