How to apply for maternity and childbirth benefits
The right to receive maternity and childbirth benefits, as well as benefits for caring for a child up to 1.5 years, is retained even if the organization where the woman worked has ceased operations. The maternity and childbirth benefit is paid in a lump sum for the entire period of the corresponding leave. It is payable to a pregnant or postpartum woman, as well as to a woman who adopted a child under three months of age, provided that the dismissal occurred due to the liquidation of the company. The amount of the benefit is equal to 100% of the subsistence minimum for the working-age population in the region per calendar month. The benefit amount is calculated based on the period of incapacity for work, and if its duration is 140 calendar days, the amount of the benefit in 2025 in the Republic of Tatarstan is 76,673.33 rubles.
To receive the payment, it is necessary within six months from the date of the end of maternity leave to submit an application to the Social Fund. This can be done at the fund’s client service or via the Gosuslugi portal. It is important that to arrange the benefit within a year after dismissal the woman must be registered at the employment center as unemployed. The monthly allowance for a child up to 1.5 years is assigned if the dismissal occurred during maternity leave or during childcare leave. In similar cases, the father, other relatives, or the child’s guardian can apply for the payment. The amount of the allowance equals 40% of the average earnings at the workplace for the year preceding the childcare leave (or the month of dismissal during maternity leave).
