In Tatarstan the company "Amikron" was found guilty of illegal sand mining and ordered to pay a fine of 815,000 rubles for the damage caused to nature, the press service of the republic's Ministry of Ecology reported.
It all began with appeals from residents of Nizhnekamsk to the Zakamsk department of the ministry complaining about unauthorized sand extraction. When ecologists went to the specified location they discovered an illegal quarry covering 1,064 square meters. It was calculated that 2,926 cubic meters of sand had been extracted from there.
Experts assessed the damage and filed a claim in court seeking compensation. The suit was granted. The company must compensate for the damage caused to nature.
